The Finnish Foundation for Environmental Art (Ympäristötaiteen säätiö) handed out an environmental art Project of the year 2015 award to Art along the Ring Line. The Ring Line is a new railroad connecting Helsinki Central Railway Station and the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, offering all commuters short and easy access to the city and the rest of the country. The award was handed out to the City of Vantaa, Finavia (providing airport and air navigation services) and the Finnish Transport Agency in Concrete Innovations seminar in January.
We are proud to be part of this beautiful and impressive collection of artworks. Graphic concrete can be seen in altogether three different patterns on the sound barriers between two stations (Kivistö and Aviapolis). The work has been designed by Mikko Rikala and Liisa Ilveskorpi from WSP-Group. More photos and information of the sound barrier can be found from the reference details on our website. You can read more about Art along the Ring Line from the City of Vantaa and Kivistö neighbourhood's websites (in Finnish), and view a slideshow of some of the artwork by the City of Helsinki.
The Concrete Innovations seminar was organized by the Finnish Association for Concrete Industry, Betoniteollisuus ry.
