Espoon Sellonhuippu Residential Building

Finland

The last phase of the Sello shopping center area was completed by a 20-storey apartment block with 151 well-equipped rental apartments right on the corner of the shopping center.

The Cederqvist & Jäntti Architects wanted to bring some playfulness into the box-like architecture of the Sello area. The balconies of the building are folded into an arrowhead that looks towards the south. In this way, the massive building was visually reduced to a smaller figure. From the north side, the building is divided into two, so that it actually forms two adjacent towers, one white and one dark.

The white part of the building has a vivid, light pattern in Graphic Concrete. The dark wall surface has a rust-free dry press plate surface. All balconies are glazed with transparent glass.
